Winners of The Marcello Giordani Foundation International Vocal Competition – Fano, Italy 2012

The final selection of the International Singing Competition of the Marcello Giordani Foundation took place at the Teatro della Fortuna of Fano, Italy, on May 13, 2012.  Thirteen of the finalists were awarded prizes, and seven were chosen for roles in the production of Verdi’s Falstaff to be presented by Teatro della Fortuna during the 2012-2013 season.

 THE WINNERS:

Taisiya Ermolaeva, soprano, Russia
– First Prize in memory of “Michele Guagliardo”, 5000 and awarding of the “Fortuna d’Oro” of the Foundation Teatro della Fortuna of Fano
– Special Prize – Debut at Teatro Carlo Felice of Genova
– Special Prize – Debut at Teatro São Pedro of São Paulo, Brazil, season 2013.
– Concert offered  by the organization Premio Aureliano Pertile, Teatro Alfieri di Asti. 
– The Critics’ Prize.

Valeria Sepe, mezzo soprano (Italy)
– Second Prize offered by Vero Beach Opera (Florida, USA) 3000 euro.
– Special Prize, Debut at Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa.
– Special Prize, Debut at Teatro São Pedro of São Paulo, Brazil, season 2013.
– Concert offered by the organization “Premio Aureliano Pertile” at the Teatro Alfieri of Asti.
– Role of Mrs. Meg Page in Falstaff, season 2012/2013, Teatro della Fortuna.

Medet Chotabaev, tenor, Kazakistan
– Third Prize in memory of tenor Sergio Franchi, offered by the Eva e Sergio Franchi Foundation 2000 euro.
– Special Prize in the memory of tenor Salvatore Licitra.
– Concert in the summer season at Teatro Bellini of Catania .

Emanuele Cordaro, bass, Italia
– Concert offered by the organization “Premio Aureliano Pertile”, Teatro Alfieri of Asti.
– Scholarship offered by the Kiwanis Augusta for participation in the Master Class of the Marcello Giordani Foundation.
– Role of Pistola in Falstaff, season 2012-2013, Teatro della Fortuna.

Marco Frusoni, tenor, Italia
– Special Prize Luciano Pavarotti.
– Special Prize, debut at Teatro São Pedro of São Paulo, Brazil,  season 2013.

Aurora Tirotta, soprano, Italia
– Concert at Vero Beach Opera (Florida, USA).
– Special Prize, Concert or role in the Orchestra Sinfonica La Verdi, season 2013.

Claudio Levantino, baritone, Italia
– Special Prize, concert or role in the Orchestra Sinfonica La Verdi, season 2013.

Paolo Paolillo, tenor, Brazil
– Prize offered by the Comune of Siracusa, “On. Sullo Leone”.

Aida in Liège

From February 26 until March 14, Marcello Giordani stars as Radamès in Verdi’s Aida at the Opéra Royal. He’s joined by a superb cast, with Elaine Alvarez and Donata D’Annunzio sharing the title role and Nino Surguladze and Marianne Cornetti portraying Amneris. Speranza Scappucci conducts.

Verdi’s Aida

Verdi’s AIDA – September 29 – October 9, 2016
After his acclaimed performance as the unknown prince in Puccini’s Turandot, Marcello Giordani returns to the stage of the Vienna State Opera as the Egyptian warrior Radames. Giordani’s debut as Radames at the San Francisco Opera in 2010 was received enthusiastically by the critics. Since then, he has sung the role at the Metropolitan Opera, the Arena di Verona, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and the Vienna State Opera. At the Vienna State Opera, he joins a cast which includes soprano Kristin Lewis as Aida, mezzo-soprano Violeta Urmana as Amneris, Sorin Coliban as Ramfis, and Ambrogio Maestri as Amonasro. Marco Armiliato conducts the Orchestra of the Wiener Staatsoper.
